Sea Traffic Management (STM) LISA Webinars completed with great results
|

On the 25th and 27th of May the LISA Flagship held its first external workshop with stakeholders, who helped with input and suggestions on topics and subjects to include in the Flagship Process.

STM Conference 2021
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The STM conference showed concrete results from several projects, revealed how far the work on standardization has come and discussed the importance of information sharing as an enabler for GHE-reducing just-in-time arrivals. The main conclusion of the conference was that the standards, the ecosystem and the services are reliable and that the solutions built on this foundation are stable and trustworthy.

EXOPRODIGI partners organized the event titled “Navigating to-wards eco-efficiency – Best practices and inspiring examples in AI, 3D and process development”
|

On June 10, EXOPRODIGI project partners organized a webinar, which focused on topics such as utilization of 3D and AI solutions in maritime and automotive industries, process optimization with the help of digital technologies, and collaboration between digital solution providers and industry end-users.

Vessel traffic service (VTS) is in focus in new STM simulations
|

|
In the STM BALT SAFE project, it is for the first time possible to see a full-scale route exchange ship VTS. This is the first step into the future VTS management, which agree with the safety aspect. The safety contribution of the VTS depends heavily on operator skills and experiences but bring huge possibilities to the VTS.

EXOPRODIGI’s webinar “Charting the course for sustainability – Baltic Sea Region as a frontrunner in clean shipping and shipbuild-ing” takes place September 21 from 9.00 to 13.50 (CEST)

The event focuses on the role of the Baltic Sea region as a pacesetter in sustainable maritime transportation. Furthermore, it focuses on the development and outlook of sustainable shipping and includes an expert discussion on the measures needed to reduce the environmental impact of shipping and shipbuilding. Findings of EXOPRODIGI’s work on digital performance monitoring, cargo stowage optimization and streamlining shipyard processes will also be presented and discussed.

SEAMEASURE holds an online workshop “Ways forward to reach zero emissions shipping” on September 28 from 9.00 to 11.30 (CEST)

|
The workshop will focus on technological scenarios for meeting the IMO 2050 GHG emission target and the Paris agreement. Both climate impacts as well as their (possible) secondary effects on air and water pollution will be tackled. Emissions to air and water will be discussed in the light of a recent synthesis of current knowledge about shipping effects on air and seawater quality, human health and ecosystems in the Baltic Sea Region. The knowledge gaps that need to be addressed in order to meet the IMO 2050 target towards zero-emission will be a focal point of discussion.

EUSBSR Annual Forum takes place online on September 27 to October 1 2021

|
|
|
|
This years’ Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region is organized online from 27 September to 1 October. The Forum will focus on green recovery and encourages us all to revitalise the Strategy, recover after COVID-19 together and recharge for greener and more resilient Baltic Sea Region.

CBSS EGSME, DG Mare, Pa Spatial Planning and PA Ship joins forces to organize workshop on the green transition in the maritime industry on September 29 from 15.00 to 17.00 (CET) as part of the EUSBSR Annual Forum

Several institutions and organizations in the BSR are currently adopting strategic papers on the blue economy, green transition of the maritime sector, and are focusing on clean shipping, alternative fuel, as well as action plans to make the BSR a model region for sustainable maritime economy, at both regional and national levels. The purpose of the workshop is to bring different stakeholders together to discuss how to implement these strategies in practice, as well as to identify common challenges and opportunities.

The European Commission points to the need for coordinated and optimized port calls, which will be addressed at the EUSBSR Annual forum workshop on September 29 from 15.00 to 17.00 (CET)

During the pandemic the digitalization efforts in the maritime domain has increased a lack of coordination and fragmented approaches run the risk of becoming a bottleneck for further development and improvements in efficiency. This fragmentation can be de-fragmentized with various methods that supports and guides stakeholders, projects and initiatives. The workshop will explore the gaps and learning points of existing initiatives and approaches and identify opportunities and threats. Furthermore, it aims to discuss and co-develop ideas for strategic projects that can take macro-regional collaboration on maritime digitalization to the next level.

PA Safe co-organize EUSBSR Annual Forum Session on Interna-tional Assistance in Emergencies and Disasters on September 29 from 10.00 to 12.00 AM (CET)

This session deals with Host Nation Support activities of Rescue Services and focuses on coastal and maritime incidents involving oil or chemical spills. The 2-hour slot will comprise a short introduction to the theme followed by expert presentations and a concluding panel discussion.

CPMR Baltic Sea Commission and the Informal Baltic Sea Group are co-organizing the online event “Baltic Sea ports as drivers of the sustainable blue economy – Making the Green Deal a reality”, Octo-ber 22 from 10.00 to 12.00 (CEST)

|
|
|
|
Ports do not only play an important role in connecting regions, creating jobs and growth, they can also contribute to delivering carbon neutrality and the European Green Deal. They have the potential of becoming gateways of sustainable blue economy, key hubs in delivering clean energy, green transport, circular economy and digital transformation. Baltic Sea ports are at the forefront of this process and this seminar will seek to outline current developments, future visions and ways to support the transition in the region.
